During Sal Island’s nesting season, female loggerhead sea turtles return to the beach after dark to lay their eggs. This guided evening experience offers the opportunity to observe this remarkable natural process in the turtles’ own habitat.
After reaching the nesting area, your local Kriol Trip guide explains the turtles’ life cycle, nesting behaviour and the conservation work carried out to protect them. The group remains at a respectful distance and moves quietly along the beach while waiting for turtle activity.
Observation is carried out with red-light torches to avoid disturbing the animals. Flash photography, bright lights and sudden movements are not permitted. As this is a wild-animal experience, sightings cannot be guaranteed, but the guide will provide the best possible conditions for respectful observation.
